Taller Gastronómico El Punto

A tiny restaurant hidden in Guachipelín where a real chef, Rodrigo, is cooking.
I was there for my first time 2 months ago with my husband and  two other couples and we were quite impressed.
The menu is simple, the food fantastic.
To start Cristina brings a complementary bowl of edamames, then we ordered appetizers to share: we had a wonderful ceviche, a mouthwatering mushroom risotto, grilled octopus and tuna tataki.

Then we were offered a mouthwatering granita before our entrees.
We ordered 2 types of perfectly cooked fish, the Pargo with a light seafood broth, and the Corvina on top of cuscus and calamaries, both cooked to perfection. The 62 hour Lechón (a slow cooked pulled pork) was delicious. The meat looked great, I didn’t try it but my friend seemed very happy.

The whole concept is so perfectly thought through that you arrive to the desserts in complete surrender…
We decided to try one of each… The Arroz con Leche is a great twist on the one you would usually find, just crispy and yummy, one of my favorites. The Bananas and Tarta de Queso were good but not great. The later one tasted more like a cannoli.

The winner of the night for me was the Cajeta de Coco… you must try it … It is to dye for. Order one only for yourself since “sharing is not beautiful” when it comes to passing “the jar” around. Every single dish was gorgeously presented and perfectly cooked.

El Punto is a winner, I highly recommend it.
Rodrigo, Cristina and Jimena make a perfect team. Thanks for bringing this new delight to Costa Rica, best of luck!
