Mantras Veggie Cafe

Mantras is a great veggie cafe settled in an old house in Barrio Escalante, San Pedro.  A vibrant atmosphere welcomed us for a Saturday lunch a couple of weeks ago.  A 15 min wait didn’t bother us, since this unusual wait signalled a good thing!

Daily specials

By the time our table was ready, I had read their daily specials on a board and was ready to order.
Their menu is well balanced: soups, salads, pastas, wraps and desserts are all fresh and yummy. My 3 friends and I shared the Mantras Salad, the Mexican Salad, and the Pad Thai, all really tasty. For dessert we shared the most delicious “ raw brownie” with cranberries and walnuts and their homemade ice creams. They also offer gluten free items.

Mantras  offers a detox juice program to take home, but instead we bought products by costarican company “Aromas para el Alma” that has a wonderful display inside Mantras.

Prices are very reasonable, we paid 10.000 colones each ($20). Service is ok, though a bit hectic. The energetic owner is around and his wife is in the kitchen cooking: the recipe for success proven once again.

Definitely a great cafe to visit.
