AlTapas is a cool new tapas bar in Santa Ana.

Black walls that contrast with a large wooden bar in the middle and about 20 tables are all well put together.
Four Spanish brothers are the owners, including architect Joan Puigcorbe who design the cool space. The other 2 brothers are in charge of the restaurant, the 4th lives in Spain.
Nice home courtesies such as a glass of cava and a small croquette were a good start.
We tried several tapas: tortilla espanola, octopus, calamaries, patatas bravas, paella and beef; all really tasty.
The wine list is satisfactory. They explain to us that their plan is to “go around the world” with a wine list that changes every 2 weeks.
I think their prices are reasonable, specially in this area of the country where restaurants are more expensive. Expect to pay around 15.000 colones per person for 2 glasses of  wine and about 2 tapas.
Service is good, could improve and I’m sure it would.

Al Tapas has a nice feel to it. It’s a good spot for pre or post movies, excel net option to grab a quick bite or even to spend a long night with friends, wine and good food.
I recommend you go before it gets too popular and the tables would be all taken.
